In the long run, the Trump Sanctions will hurt the US more than China. The sheer arrogance of the idea that the USA is smarter than the rest of the World and that it will stay that way forever is mindboggling. The only way for the USA to keep its lead is if we are better at working with other countries than China. These sanctions may hurt China in the short term, but in the long term it means that they will decouple their dependencies from one of the only areas where the US still has an edge. This in combination with Chinese investments in education and infrastructure will soon overwhelm the United State’s ability to compete. This process was well on its way, but these Trump sanctions will accelerate this process exponentially. Here is an example.
The bottom line is if we give the orange orangutan in the White House two more years, China may be force to form an alliance with Russia and the USA will be out of the picture. Russia has all the resources and China has all the manufacturing. All they need to do is start to trade using the Yen. Two more years will force their hands and it will not be in our favor.
